Diana,

A preacher taking something “for granite.” How strangely appropriate. “…thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church”

I remember a Northern Exposure episode that was the complement of what you describe. The doctor was trying to teach the locals how to play basketball and deal with the midnight sun at the same time. Everybody tried to warn him about the effects of 24-hour daylight, but he crashed anyway.

If I understand celestial mechanics correctly, winter in the Arctic will bring a dawn / dusk period around local noon but the rest of the time will be full night. Unless there’s another effect like Zodiacal Light that I’m not aware of.

Dave

P.S. The Basic skin for the blog software doesn’t seem to allow posting comments, at least not for me. The Custom skin worked, and this one seems to as well. D.

(Sorry - “this one” is the Natural Pink skin. Feel free to delete this after you’ve read it. Dave)

I was wondering if there was something about the upgrade that changed people’s posting habits. Now I understand.

I’m just testing the “Natural Pink” theme comment posting to see if my anti-spam fix broke it.

Feel free to delete this post (if it makes it and I don’t delete it first).

I did find a few of the themes had their own form, so I added the anti-spam trick to them as well, so this problem should be resolved.

“Natural Pink” was not one of them, Dave, so I’m guessing that it worked with that, but not the other one you were thinking of.

The error message should have been “must visit post first,” which would indicate the trick isn’t in place. Well, if you actually visited the page.

Jeff,

Thanks. I usually use the Basic skin.
