beef stew!

Oh man! Today, I took our new crock pot out for a test drive, and boy did it deliver. Today's creation is beef stew....
Dead easy, too.
Here's what I used:
1.25 lbs of skewer chunks of beef, chopped into small pieces
1 lb ground beef
2 white onions, chopped
2-3 handfuls of bacon bits
2 lbs. potatoes, chopped into small cubes
1 lb. carrots, chopped into small bits
1.5 cups of beef broth, then a quart of chicken broth (because I was out of beef broth)
2 packages of baby bella mushrooms, quartered
a couple of tablespoons rosemary, crushed
a couple of tablespoons coarse black pepper
a couple of tablespoons salt
a tablespoon of paprika
2 bay leaves
2-3 tablespoons corn starch
Procedure is simple: Brown the meat in a skillet, along with the onions. Put everything else except for the corn starch in the crock pot. Turn on high to get it heated good, then drop it to low. Leave it all day. In the evening, get a small bowl, dip out some of the broth, then wisk in the corn starch. Add back to pot and stir in well. Let it cook for another 10-15 minutes. Stir and serve.
It's just amazing.

Diana,
It sounds great! I wouldn’t be able to let that leave the pot without biscuits as an escort though.
Bacon bits. I never would have thought of that.

I know! Isn’t that brilliant? I (naturally) borrowed the idea.
And biscuits is a perfect addition. :)
