Now must re-housetrain dog.

It seems that the canine is unclear on what constitutes "house" and what is pee-free zones. I'll have to go back to the cage for a while when I've left the house, and otherwise ensure I watch him until he figures it out. *sigh* Otherwise, he's a sweetie and doing well. The small backyard bothers him a bit, I think, because he's used to an area in which he can accomplish a full gallop, run in concentric circles, chase squirrels, and otherwise exhaust himself. On the other hand, he appears to be enjoying the deck to the fullest, as well as the inordinately cool weather. (It's in the low 70s today. Just beautiful! It was 90-something when I hit town last week, and for a couple of days afterward. Since I don't have AC in the house, I spent a lot of time unpacking the basement, where it's easily five degrees cooler, maybe more. You can feel the change as you descend the stair.)

The cats are in cat heaven, what with lots of soft carpet to lounge on and a couple of picture windows with huge sills, plus I open the windows upstairs during the day, as it cools the house, so they get all the sounds and smells from out-of-doors.

My household goods got here on Thursday evening (a week ago), and I reported for duty Friday morning. The prof in charge gave me this week off at my request to unpack and get settled, bless him. And I need it, too. Unpacking is hard work, particularly if some of your furniture has been mangled and you have to find new homes for things. Also, I'm trying to be smart and throw away all that "good" stuff I never use, or at least bequeath it to DAV or Goodwill Industries. For some reason, I have a hard time getting rid of things that still have use in them, even when I already know I don't use them.

The movers dropped a piece of furniture on my bike, denting the tank admirably. I'll file it in my report and seek retribution, along with all the furniture they crunched up.*

* This is why I don't have nice things. Exactly why. Our "professional" movers in the military are lowest-bidder contractors.

I got a call from my real estate agent this morning asking specifically what my house payments in Wetumpka are. I offered a VA takeover loan to eligible buyers, which means they have to have their own VA eligibility to transfer the loan to, but they get the interest rate I got 3.5 years ago when I bought (5.875%)--then they use conventional to finance the rest. She said several people are showing a lot of interest in the place, and it looks like this retired military couple may make an offer. (A part of me says, "Wow, that soon?" and another part says, "What's the matter with people? That's a great place!" B))

Meanwhile, I still have stuff to sort through, and hope to have the place in adequate order by this weekend to vacuum and clean well. Hope y'all are well. Worry not 'bout me. I'm doing well. Just busy.
