Diana,

The Fairy Godmother department strikes again, eh? (Grin) I can understand your preference for Oregon. I wouldn’t mind living in that area myself.

Diana,
I spent a couple of weeks in Portland, OR and loved it. With your love of the outdoors it would be an ideal place for you (IMHO). Of course you have to not mind the rain too much as it does do a lot of that. Glad to hear you are continuing your education . Take care and be good.

Hi, Rick!

I’ve heard only good things about Oregon. I’ll be close enough to Portland to shoot up there for the occasional weekend, too. As for the rain, every place has its drawbacks. In the grand scheme of things, rain isn’t too bad.

Good to hear from you! :)

I spent 2 summers in Bend, OR, and I absolutely fell in love with the state. The northwest has a “feel” that is hard to describe, but it’s great. You’ll love it.

Interesting, Irene! A friend of mine was telling me just two weeks ago that she wants to move to Bend, OR. She’s never even visited, but she’s read about the place and asked people, and said it seems like the ideal spot for her.

I guess I’ve spent to much time in the Southeastern US that I’m anxious to try the Northeastern US. :) I’m half-way there now, I reckon.

Bend is fantastic. It’s really close to Mt. Bachelor, which is a ski resort. It’s a pretty small town, but it has a great vibe (I loved the summer music festival) and lots of outdoorsy stuff to do.

It’s a very secular and openminded community, as is much of the Northwest. I almost moved there.
