I’m not sure what I’m doing that you haven’t seen done before, Aunt B’Ann. Telling the students to question me? I’m curious.

I learned all this years ago, as well, Daddy. Now that I think about it, I suppose I’ve always taken for granted that oral and written grammar are (often) drastically different. However…I don’t think I’ve ever tried to explain my observations to undergraduates. That’s what challenged me. To borrow the words of one of my Wilmington profs, I felt like a fish trying to describe water. ;)

And by the way…even when I vehemently disagree with you, I love you just as much, and appreciate your ongoing contributions to my life.
